Training and Development

 Training and Development

Training and development is very essential at all employee levels, due to the reason that skills erode and become obsolete over a period of time and has to be replenished (Nishtha and Amit (2010).

Most companies place training and development at the bottom of their priority list. It is generally at the insistence of the human resources department that it is arranged. Organizing proper training and development sessions for staff, on the other hand, has huge value. Employees can learn new skills, polish old ones, improve their performance, increase productivity, and become better leaders through training. Because a firm is the sum of its employees' individual accomplishments, companies should do everything possible to ensure that employees perform at their best.

Why training and development are very important

Orientation for New Hires

For new staff, training is especially vital. This can be done by someone from within the firm and should be used to bring new employees up to speed on the company's operations and fill any skill gaps.

Performance enhancement

It is self-evident that an employee's performance improves when flaws and deficiencies are corrected. Training and development, on the other hand, focuses on enhancing your strengths and learning new skills. It is critical for a company to break down its training and development requirements in order to target the right people. If I may use my own company as an example, each department has its own set of training groups. Internal and external process experts facilitate numerous programs, which often focus around product development training, QA training, and PMP, among others.

Employee satisfaction

Employees who work for a company that invests in training and development are more likely to be satisfied. However, the exercise must be relevant to the employees and provide them with opportunities to learn and apply what they have learned. If training and development becomes monotonous and dull, and people attend it only because they have to, it will be ineffective. As a company, we place a high value on industry-specific training and send many of our staff to international seminars and conferences where they can learn new skills.

Improve productivity

In today's fast-paced environment, productivity is influenced not just by people, but also by the technology they utilize. Training and development go a long way toward keeping staff up to date with new technology, allowing them to make better use of the ones they already have, and allowing them to discard the ones they no longer need. This goes a long way toward completing tasks in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
